High Availability (HA) with Redundant Multiple Streams

In the broadcast and media industry, high availability is a fundamental requirement, with expectations often exceeding 99.9%. OTT services are expected to maintain the same reliability standards.

Conversant LSS enables redundant multi-stream input for a single channel, where each input stream operates with independent transcoding, packaging, and other media processing. The output operates as the streaming origin for the streaming acceleration. Thus, this architecture ensures the high availability of the streaming origins.

The streaming acceleration network continuously monitors all streaming origins. It automatically fails over to a redundant streaming origin when a primary streaming origin fails, ensuring uninterrupted playback and a seamless viewing experience for the end users.

Steps:

  1. Go to Dashboard/Channels and click Create Channel.
  2. Enter the channel name.
  3. Click Create Input:
    • Enter the app name and the stream name.
    • Select RTMP under Input Protocol.
    • Enable Ingest HA (High Availability).
    • Click Create Input.
  4. Click Create Output: Enter the output name and select the output protocol.
  5. Click Create Preset: Enter the preset name, configure the video and audio parameters, and click Create Preset.
  6. Confirm Create Output.
  7. Click Create Delivery:
  8. Click Create Channel.
  9. Go to Channels > Channel Viewing.
  10. Copy the two Input Addresses and add them to the encoder configuration for each stream in the channel.
  11. Copy the delivery URL and add it to the CMS playback address for the corresponding channel.
  12. Start streaming from the encoder.

The channel is now streaming with multiple stream inputs and is accessible by the application.
